During the 1910s, Miyoko Higashikuze, a pupil at a women's academy in Japan, faces a dilemma as she encounters Mari Fujiwaka, a "New Woman" who strives to deviate from the conventional path and shape her destiny instead, causing Miyoko to re-evaluate her perception of the perfect Japanese woman.
