Upon her arrival in the isolated Cornish town of Tredregyn, When Bilinda Baker discovers that her new coworkers are as unwelcoming as the rugged coastline. However, she quickly bonds with Maggie Warren, a lively local woman who holds very unconventional beliefs. What is a trainee priest to do when she learns that her new best friend is employed at the Church of Satan? What issues does the housekeeper face? And what is the reason behind Reverend Penrose's perpetual fatigue? The two women, each with vastly differing perspectives, work to unravel the mysteries as they deal with the eerie occurrences in a tranquil seaside parish, ultimately realizing how challenging it is to take a stand in a conflict involving good, evil, and everything in between.
