A patient was attended to by Doctor Matsuoka Tsuyoshi at the hospital on January 3rd, 2011. The doctor initially diagnosed the patient with a common flu and advised bed rest. However, the patient's organs started to fail the next day and consequently, passed away. This sparked a nationwide panic in Japan as others began to exhibit similar symptoms, indicating the rapid spread of an unknown virus. As the virus continued to claim more lives, tragedy befell the affected.
